OASI reserve for the self-employed

The calculator estimates the yearly OASI, DI and EO contributions for the self-employed and the matching monthly reserve.

You enter your expected net income after business expenses and the administrative cost contribution of your compensation fund.

The result shows the monthly reserve and the split into social contributions and administrative costs.

After business expenses, before OASI contributions and taxes.

As a percentage of contributions, 0.5 to 5 percent depending on the compensation fund. Default here: 3 percent.

  • On top of this come cantonal family compensation fund contributions, roughly 1 to 3 percent of income.
  • A tax reserve must be planned separately and is often clearly larger than the OASI reserve.
  • Without a second pillar, consider voluntary occupational pension cover or a higher pillar 3a contribution.

What this calculator does not cover

The result is a rough estimate, not a binding calculation. For the exact figure, the official statement is what counts.

  • The contribution is calculated on the income you enter. The compensation fund also deducts interest on business equity and adds back contributions already paid.
  • The minimum contribution of CHF 530 applies per compensation fund. If you are also employed, you can request the lowest scale rate at low income.
  • Occupational pension, accident insurance, sickness daily allowance and VAT are not included.

How it is calculated

Up to a low income, the minimum contribution of CHF 530 per year applies.

From CHF 60,500 the full rate of 10 percent for OASI, DI and EO combined applies. In between, the statutory decreasing scale applies.

On top of the contributions comes the administrative cost contribution of the compensation fund, capped by law at 5 percent.

The total divided by twelve gives the recommended monthly reserve.

Frequently asked questions

Are these all the charges?
No. Family compensation fund, occupational pension, accident insurance and taxes come on top. The tax reserve is often larger than the OASI reserve.
Why does the amount differ from my statement?
The compensation fund also deducts interest on business equity and adds back contributions already paid. That is not modelled here.
Does the minimum contribution apply per person?
It applies per compensation fund. If you are also employed, you can request the lowest scale rate at low income.
